PRIVACY AND PERSONAL DATA

IT WASNT LIKE THIS IN THE 1980'S

COMING SOON

The Short Summary

  • The only data the app collects is for crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics Android Library)
  • You can submit a pinball crash report. This includes logs and the pinball table script for analysis.
  • No data is sold to anyone. I don’t collect any personal data. Retro Eki DOES NOT CARE for your personal data.

The Full Story

This is my little quiet protest

In this modern world, we are the slave to the technology. I wanted to build my app differently. No data centres, no selling of data and no behind the scenes trickery. I wanted you, my beloved user to own your own data digitally.

Oh no! I smell a blockchain coming on!

It was interesting to see some comments on Reddit about people’s thoughts about using blockchain technology in the app. It was a difficult decision, based on weeks of thinking it through. In the end, it simple was my interest to see if I could get it to work, and see if the technology lived up its hype.

People have ruined the technology

This is just my opinion, and does not mean I do not respect your opinion. I might not agree, but happy to share opinions with anyone.

There has been so many scams and bad actors, that the blockchain technology has been systemically destroyed. I do not blame anyone, or point fingers. It was decided by the gods that this will be the case. The gods have their own reasons, which I can only guess. I do not care to find out or look at the past.

What technology was best?

I already had tried different blockchains for other little projects, so I knew on the face of it, it would be possible, but always hit upon hurdles.

The Hurdles

  1. Cost
  2. Scalability
  3. Reputation
  4. Longevity
  5. Software

The blockchain I chose while looking at a giant hurdle wall.

It was interesting to find a blockchain that when coming across the usual hurdles, the hurdles were like little matchboxes, so effectless to overcome, apart from one, and this hurdle was BIG!

This hurdle was Reputation.

Overcome with anxiety, stress and thoughts of “people are going to attack my project if I use this”, I almost backed away. But didn’t.

I love a challenge. I wanted to know everything about this bad reputation, where it came from, why so bad.

None of it made any sense.

There is no coffeezilla posts, there is no Jake Paul, there is no evidence of people getting scammed, there are no complaints of the technology not doing what it says it does. There is no blog posts on why the technology doesn’t work, or the founders have stolen any money.

Why does it have a bad rep then?

The short answer. Dr. Craig Wright. The long answer. A continued effort to discredit him by said bad actors.

I am proud for using this technology.

If you are a software nerd like me.

BSV is mega.

If you are an app user.

Its so cheap and efficient, I can keep it as Free to use. You own all your data (achievements, backups) and can view it at anytime.
